Location, Location, Location

This article about our new location, located in Burlington, North Carolina, originally appeared in the March/April 2018 edition of Burlington Magazine. You can view the article here

In April 2005, father Randy Kirk, a seasoned carpenter, and son Tommy Kirk, a steel fabrication expert, joined forces to create fully assembled wooden sheds that are delivered quickly via a custom-designed trailer.

How They Do It

Randy’s experience as a foreman for a residential framing company led to simple but incredibly durable sheds using the same construction techniques he learned by framing houses. Tommy’s propensity for innovation and his experience as a general manager of a local steel fabricator led to a trailer design that can accommodate taller loads. This allows The Shed Depot of NC to deliver the tallest portable sheds in the industry– fully assembled. Together, the residential construction quality and taller shed capabilities became foundational to what The Shed Depot is today.

A sales office was soon established in a small corner of Tommy’s business along Highway 421 in Sanford NC.

It wasn’t long before they found out that quality and deliverability resonated with customers and a manufacturing facility was purchased in 2007. The new facility allowed The Shed Depot to improve production efficiency, reduce environmental impacts and sell quality sheds for less that on-site contractors. This recipe of quality and deliverability led to a network of retail locations established by new sales manager, Josh Payne, in 2008.

Demand for more customized features resulted in Josh becoming more and more involved in the design and production process, eventually becoming General Manager in 2011. Since then, The Shed Depot of NC has added three new series of sheds and now offers five siding options, including vinyl, LP lap siding and James Hardie lap siding. They are also the only shed builder in the area that uses LP SmartSide vented soffits to maximize air flow and reduce interior temperatures and “mustiness.”

What Else Makes Shed Depot Stand Out

“We listen to customers and continually change to improve our products to better meet their needs. What won’t change is the focus on quality construction and innovative solutions that The Shed Depot was founded on,” says Josh. “We love to ‘wow’ customers by providing a truly unique custom shed at a fair price. We are committed to working with customers to find their best solution, making good on our promises and making their experience fantastic!”
